The last thing you need to be worrying about when it took you 5 snooze buttons and 3 pep talks is a bad hair day. One of the worst things once you actually get to the gym is when your you are mid-set and suddenly there is a hair…somewhere…tickling the back of your neck, in your face, or your bun is causing your head to wobble while attempting to lay on your back and do crunches. To remedy that, I have created a list of my six favorite hairstyles.
Short & Long Hair
The “Bang Braid”
I’m not totally sure if this is the correct name for it…probably not…BUT it is one of the best hairstyles to keep your bangs out of your face while you workout. Especially for those with hair too short to throw in a ponytail and go.
The Half Knot
This hairstyle is, again, great for those with shorter hair. It’s cute and great for lifting, maybe not quite as great for cardio though. I just end up imagining your bun unraveling into your face while you try to run on the treadmill…
The Upside Down French Braid
Just think NO MORE BOBBY PINS! This french braid keeps all the hairs that don’t fit in that ponytail wrapped up and without getting those random bobby pins stabbing you in the back of the head.
I LOVE these. They make me feel like a total badass and ready to crush anything that happens to be on my workout schedule for that day. They are cute, cool and nothing more needed than two small hairbands.
The Messy Bun
It’s 5:00am, you feel dead, you don’t want to be there, but you are. You made it and, despite feeling like a zombie, you need to crush this so you can get on with your day. It’s easy, imperfect and takes
literally seconds. For me, this happens to be an almost every day look…whoops!
The Ballet Bun (aka the Sock Bun)
We have envied those with the perfect bun. Put socks in our hair to try and mimic it. We want to look put together, sleek and sassy while we crush our workouts. If this is you, I have good news…no more socks! They now have a foam doughnut…but you won’t find this one in the bakery!
Hopefully these tips help you enjoy and maybe even look forward (whaaaaaa?!) to your workouts a little more without the worry of having to deal with your hair.
